In his Apostolic Exhortation on Catechesis in Our Time (Catechesi tradendae), Pope St. John Paul II defined catechesis as, "...an education of children, young people and adults in the faith, which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life." With this in mind, St. John the Beloved's Office of Faith Formation provides religious education for the children and young people of our parish who do not attend a Catholic school. Our mission is to instruct students on the truth of our faith, teach them how to live like Christ, and draw them into a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Our Religious Education program is founded on the following principles:

  1. Creed - We profess our faith in the Holy Trinity and we participate in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
  2. Sacraments and Liturgy - We celebrate the gift of God's grace with each and every sacrament and we rejoice in the opportunity to gather together at the Lord's Table.
  3. Commandments - We learn what each commandment is calling us to and how we can live out each of God's commandments every day.
  4. Prayer - We open ourselves to communication with God and learn how we speak with Him both as a member of the congregation and on a personal level.

St. John the Beloved's Office of Faith Formation invites all children from first to eighth grade who do not attend Catholic school to participate in our Religious Education program. We offer two different class options:

  • Tuesday Evenings 6:15 - 7:30 pm, weekly
  • Sunday Mornings 9:15 - 11:15 am, biweekly
